Thanks, Isabela, for the second read! I do find that authentic teachers have walked that difficult path of inner purification, and that experience is their main teacher. Absolutely. And everybody can serve as a teacher to everyone else — I wrote a short piece on this called “Why Everyone Is My Guru.” The question is whether someone chooses to assume the role of a teacher as a public identity and take on students. That’s not a role that people should assume lightly. If you haven’t done the inner purification, you will be motivated by ego, desire for adulation, a need to feel special.
