Thank you for pointing to the need for people to develop a meditation practice. You rightly suggest that treating psychedelics as a shortcut for meditation misconstrues their purpose. I have found that people who don’t have a meditation practice, or have not done any other spiritual work to diminish their mind and heal emotional trauma, don’t handle psychedelics as well, and don’t seem to derive as many benefits. My experience with ayahuasca was incredibly powerful and beneficial, but only after a whole other series of spiritual transformations, which include developing a long-standing meditation practice.
